In fall-protection glazing, the glass itself or its installation ensures that persons cannot fall through or out upon impact. Relevant standards include EN 12600 (pendulum impact test) and TRAV (Technical Rules for Fall-Protection Glazing) in Germany. Laminated safety glass (LSG) with PVB or SentryGlas interlayer is used, which holds together when broken. The minimum thickness and number of interlayers depend on installation height, parapet height and use category. Floor-to-ceiling windows without a preceding barrier must feature fall-protection glazing at a drop height of more than one metre. Clamping depth and fixing details must be structurally verified. Point-fixed systems require special verification of glass edges.
