The glazing rebate is the functional receiving zone for glazing units within the window or door frame. Its depth and width must match the glass thickness and provide sufficient space for setting blocks, sealing profiles, and tolerance compensation. Standards such as EN 14351 define minimum rebate depths depending on glass size and weight. The glazing rebate can be open or fitted with applied glazing beads. Glazing seals within the rebate simultaneously provide air and weather tightness as well as elastic support of the glass. The rebate shape and depth also influence the psi value (linear thermal transmittance) of the edge seal.
