The lift-and-slide door enables large openings in living and patio areas with a minimal floor threshold. When closed, the sash presses tightly onto the sealing profiles, ensuring high air and water tightness as well as thermal insulation. When the handle is actuated, a cam mechanism lifts the sash a few millimetres, releasing the seal. The sash then slides smoothly on high-quality steel rollers. Sash weights of up to 400 kg are feasible. Profiles in aluminium, PVC, or timber-aluminium composites are used. Multi-point locking and mushroom-head cams allow modern units to achieve burglar resistance classes up to RC 3. Barrier-free versions with reduced thresholds down to 15 mm are available.
